Sir plz kindly give me some suggestion.

Hello Sir,
96 marks in CSE pre 2020. Where i stand ?

Hello Vinay Sir!
Thank you for this initiative of making guidance available online especially for students like us who are preparing for CSE on their own.
Sir, Am preparing for CSE 2021 (First attempt), I also have enrolled in IPM test series but not been able to give them all due to my preparation of optional subject for past 4 months (July-Oct). Sir, this is making me a little anxious now as I haven't started with my GS preparation yet (doing optional-note making + Daily current affairs) & also not sure if this is a right way to do things. So,
  • Can you guide me with approach to cover GS syllabus in next 4-5 months (Nov-March)? Especially approach to cover Polity & Economy as these are very dynamic.
  • Also sir while making notes on economy, shall I focus more on covering concepts (as I've done economy in my graduation too) or covering only current issues coz of current relative PYQs like GST compensation, agriculture bills etc?

same query sir. kindly do reply

Thank you for your valuable words sir...I request you to kindly conduct a live session like this at least once in a while. So that aspirants who are doing self study, working professionals, and who are not able to meet you and other faculties offline, can interact here and feel very much motivated and stay on track.

Sir my answer writing speed is very low. Preparing in English medium. Please suggest some tips. My current speed is ~18-19 wpm.

You can refer to this blog by a topper who had slow writing speed - https://blog.forumias.com/extremely-slow-handwriting-how-yo_yo_choti_singh-fought-it-to-get-rank-104/

Sir I have some queries regarding mains answer writing.
What is the difference between 'critically analyse' or 'analyse'
In case of 'critically analyse' we have to explain both positives and negatives of the topic and in case of 'analyse' we have to separate the topic into component part. While separating into component parts should I mention the negative part of this topic as well??

Pls sir....

Dear Pushpa,

Appreciations for your Ambitions and Perseverance. Life and its situations are not fair to everyone. Some aspirants' family, well-wishers, friends, culture and financial conditions are so favourable that they clear this exam within 2 to 3 years. But not all aspirants are lucky. They have to pass through many hurdles, fight many setbacks and Preparation itself a great phase of their Life.

It is good to know that things are falling in line in your Life. It's a good sign of your success. But don't expect yourself that you would be able to work like a clock suddenly and meet the demands of the Test Series. We are an accumulation of old habits. It takes time and efforts to break the old pattern and start a new Self. Missing the targets of Test Series is very natural. Accept it.

Secondly, try to make some realistic targets/ schedules in your everyday's preparation. Whether it is Newspaper reading, Optional prep, or I-CAN video analysis, schedule them in a proper time and try to achieve it everyday. You will have to win yourself bit by bit to win the UPSC.

You have good potential to achieve the rank in this exam. But you need to reduce the distractions, you need to evolve out of the negative emotions created from the surroundings, and make your problems as opportunities to become more stronger everyday.

Use the available time and resources judiciously.  Because, UPSC is one such game everyone has the fair chance to win, no matter what background or how rich they are.

Best Wishes

Hi sir,
Thankyou for providing this platform.
Sir, I'm working as teacher. Currently working from home. This job is very necessary for me as of now. I have given 5 attempts wherein I couldn't clear my prelims. Not that I'm not a serious candidate, lot of hurdles in my personal life and with lack of proper guidelines I could not clear exam. I was trying to join Insights and pursue studies dedicatedly, since 4years. But so many obstacles  stopped me to reach out. But now I feel everything falling into right place, I feel I should not delay and I'm more strong than before, to take up this challenge. I want to clear this exam at any cost. I started from scratch. I subscribed for insight test series(textbook based). But not able to do up to mark. I'm finding difficult to complete given portions. I'm regular follower of ICAN. Often feel fear that whether I will be able to do it or not. Sir I request you to kindly give your valuable advice and guidelines. I will be so grateful to you.

Good evening Sir,

Thanks a lot for this opportunity.
I took prelims this year and was my third attempt.
Acc to me , my preparation was good. I was getting satisfactory scores at tests too.. in full syllabus tests I usually got 105+.

As you used to say about practicing a lot of questions everyday..I did that too.

And practiced mocks in exam like situation ..adjusting the bio clock according to examtime.
But couldn't perform in exam.
Was doing with practiced speed of mocks..yet faced time crunch and panicked.
Could neither complete paper acc to preparation nor perform well.
In a demotivated state..what to do now?
Despite my all possible efforts...couldn't perform in exam.
What to correct in preparation strategy?
And a question..what's the surety of this not happening again?

Dear Siya,

Sorry to know about your incident. We have seen many such cases where aspirants prepare for the whole year, attempt all the Tests, revise all the materials but end up with having bad 2 hours. It ruins their whole year and they have to start afresh all again. We have talked about this on our Insta Rev Plan n many other motivation posts many time.

The reason for high anxiety could be:

a) Having High Expectation and attachment over the results. Nurturing of Attitude "I should Clear this time, Come what may" will provide motivation but also creates stress on us. We start hankering for the results more n more. Best Approach is to work without attachment. Focus more on doing Hardwork rather than results. Once you enjoy the work, results will follow you.

b) This year, you start giving the Mock Exams in the Offline Mode. Best approach is simply filling the form and attending the Government exams in the real exam conditions. Try IBPS, EPFO or whatever govt exams, go attend the exam and simply feel the vibes of Sarkari exams. You will start seeing the change in you.

c) Try to think the beautiful world even if you dont clear the exam. We are scared to visualise what if we fail. The fear of failure is dangerous if it crosses the optimal level.

Your fear is a psychological one. You have done lot of Hardwork. That is enough to clear you this exam. But with proper guidance, you can win this exam. Have faith and Conquer the Fear.

Hello Sir!
I've been preparing for CSE2020 since Apr 2019 and was very confident for this prelims but my performance in the GS paper was not upto the mark. I may not be getting more than 88. I want to be fully prepared for CSE2021 as I'm going to make it my last attempt(2nd) and I intend to make the very best use of it. Please tell me how should I approach this exam
Additional- I've chosen PSIR as my optional

Good evening sir,
I have been consistently following our platform for the past 1 year and had given this year prelims too with my best.
I am not very sure of clearing prelims as my scores are in border but whatever I have decided to study for mains. Should I opt for mains test series now or wait till the results are out?And also I am facing financial and family problems at present and very confused about joining with test series and on the other side family members are telling me to look for a job. What can I do sir at this point of time?

Dear Rama C,

Sometimes it happens that we won't receive the desired results even with our best performance. Keep your dreams tightly and keep nurturing them. Coming to financial problems, see if you can take up a profession where it gives you financial independence and enough time to prepare as well. Once you start working, you will get many other different dimensions to see the preparation. you will be more disciplined, more serious and more grounded. You will know the value of every minute of time. Views of your parents are right in some dimension.

And you can utilise our Daily Secure and Ethics 75 days Plan to sharpen your answer writing skills if you are not sure of clearing Pre this time. Use the resources, time and energy judiciously to achieve success.

You have mentioned that working professionals should not make notes and should rather use existing notes. Could you suggest the sources for these existing notes?
