Hi sir,I am having trouble understanding the concept of jet streams? Can you pls help me with it.Secondly, how to cover the 'distribution of key natural part resources' of GS-1.I have given a of time after these topics but I am still not clear about these.
Jetstreams are 1. Geostrpic winds 2. Embedded in the Upper air westerlies 3. Sinuous waves around the globe below the tropopause 4. Between either hadley and ferrel or ferrel and polar. Its hard to explain by typing. There are many simple youtube videos. Check that out. That should give you clarity.
2. Know the following maps: 1. Industrial clusters in all the continents (More or less any specific industry or resource they ask you can use this map itself) 2. Resouces map; Iron ore; Petroleum and natural gas; Coal; Uranium; marine resources. This should suffice. Other resources more or less overlaps with this.

Good evening sir ,Sir I'm practicing answers but I'm lacking to write a appropriate answer please guide me sir how to write answer with good content
I have answered it here in couple of posts. Please have a look.
Keep writing. You'll automatically get good at it, if you consistently persevere.
all the best.
Keep writing. Dont stop. Answer writing will move from bad answers to average to good. But for that you should consistently Keep writing.
Keep revising and reverse engineer the synopsis to enrich your static notes.
The more and more you keep doing this. Youll reach a point where all the concepts will start to repeat and youll start writing generic to specific answers.
Keep Writing. ALl the best.

When I sit for answer writing I really get confused what to write or what not to write.... And than I left it. My biggest mistake. I m following the synopsis,,, but sir plz guide me.. Hello sir, I am writing mains this year. Everything is on balance path. However I am facing 2 problem.1. In Geography questions(except industry part) unable to write conveying answer. I mean I often ended up writing general answer. Please tell me few points which I should take into consider. Still have about 20 days to.......2. Not able to complete the paper especially GS-1 . Plz reply asap
I have given some templates of how to go about the Geography answer writing in one of the above posts pls check that. Geography answers is easy if you realise these 2 points while writing answers 1. Whatever phenomenon they ask- address the distribution of that phenomenon 2. whatever concept they ask- analyse the concept in regional approach (For Ex: Forest fires- regional apprach - Western himalayas; North east; central India; Southern peninsula)
For Gs-1
History; World History and post Independence and Culture- Follow Temporal Approach (Timelines ). Add names of Personalities; Events; Organizations;
For Society- Stakeholders approach (Address all the stakeholders involved in the question that is asked.)
For Geography - Regional Approach
Revise the books you had studies for prelims again and again so that you get the facts by heart to reproduce in the answer.
ALL THE BEST for the Exams. Keep Pushing :)

Sir... Geography seems abit difficult for me nd this is why I'm not able to compete in this vary subject... Plzz help me to tackle this problem nd how to start nd write or attempt any questions regarding this avry subject... Do guide🙏
Geography is actually not that difficult. Try to take help of Youtube videos for any topics you cannot understand. Also dont read the G C leong book line by line. read and just understand the crux of it. Also try to see a lot of images and videos. That makes geography very easy and interesting.

Initially its ok to take more time.
Make paper completion an Habit. Then try reducing the time slowly i.e 2 weeks it takes 4 hrs; next 2 weeks it takes 3 hrs 50 mins; next 2 weeks it takes 3 hrs 45 mins. Like that.
Dont get overambitious. It'll make you only more frustrated. Just keep making small improvements. You'll reduce time as you keep maturing in your answer writing and that can come only with a lot of practice.
Keep believing and Keep writing :)

Good evening Sir, How can we prepare national parks and wildlife sanctuaries since recent prelims trend shows that questions are becoming more detailed?
National Parks you can byheart with some efforts (GO statewise and also focus more on North east; Himalayan states and Eastern India)
Wildlife sanctuaries: Keep Noting down all the ones that come in News, Dont try to byheart all of them. Waste of energy and Memory space. If they ask very extreme such sanctuaries; Most of them will not answer and so youll not lose the game as the game of prelims is played on a relative scale.

Sir appearing for 2021 , facing difficulty in paper completion. It takes 4 hrs to complete a paper and not seeing any improvement even after giving 5-6 tests .
How to go about this sir ?
Sir, for one who do self-study what are the must-read books for geography optional? preparing for 2021
Khullar, Savindra Singh and Majid HUssain ( For Human Geography and Prespectives )
That should do.
keep the prep simple. Learn the concepts. Prepare your Base notes (i.e Something about every topic in the syllabus)
After this start writing answers to last 10 years of UPSC Papers. This will suffice your prep.
All the best. Refer to a few toppers strategies. Prajit Nair is given a good one.
Mahesh its unfortunate but the answer is yes, filling all the sheet matters.
The trick is to write 80-90 words per page. So if your handwriting is small. try to play with the spacing (Between words, lines and headings).
But all the toppers (Especially ours :) ) follow it.
Pls do.
Keep practicing :)

Good evening, sir.I have a few subject related doubts.1. Why do winds descend after orographic rainfall ?2. How is loo caused in Indian monsoon ? Is it due to some local pressure gradient ?3. Why are there less cyclones in the Arabian sea ?Thank you.
1. They descend because, they were being pushed up by the mountains (ORO) and because that support ends they descend.
2. Loo is a dust storm not caused during monsoon but caused pre monsoon. Its caused in the Northwest region of India which is semi arid and this part getting intensely heated up during summer causing the dust storm.
3. Because of Several reasons: 1. Less temp that BOB 2. Higher number of Islands in BOB hence differential heating 3. Previous vortices from South China sea coming to BOB

Take up the tests only if the Base Notes are ready. So that you can keep revising and writing tests.
If you have not done the Base notes dont take up any tests, do the base notes first.
Try to give atleast 2 months exclusively for Prelims as well.
Plan accordingly. All the best.
